Ultrasonographic findings of epididymal torsion in adults - a rare cause of acute scrotum

Introduction. Epididymal torsion is a rare cause of acute scrotum. Only few cases have been described in the literature, and preoperative ultrasound diagnosis was done only two cases. So far, according to our data, epididymal adults not previously reported literature. Case Report. We report case 39-year-old man, who admitted hospital for pain left hemiscrotum lasting three days. The physical examination revealed swelling limited hemiscrotum, so patient referred an with epididymitis. ultrasonography showed that epididymis significantly enlarged head area heterogeneous structure parenchyma on grayscale, without significant Color Doppler signal. At level neck body epididymis, there ?whirlpool sign? reactive hydrocele edema scrotum soft tissue highly suspicious epididymis. underwent emergency surgery about 540 degrees confirmed intraoperatively. Conclusion. should be kept mind differential scrotal adults.
